Women's Celebratory Dinner
Tuesday 1st April 2008
A Celebration of Remarkable Women
In the Presence of The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress
City organisations and residents joined us on 1st April for the first gala event of the Lord Mayor’s programme for 2008. Hosted by Sue Saville, Medical Correspondent for ITV News, the evening celebrated and honoured the achievements of women over the years.
We were delighted to be joined by Shriti Vadera (Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Business and Competitiveness), Rosie Stancer (British adventurer, the first woman in the world to trek solo to the North Pole) and Jasvinder Sanghera (campaigner for the rights of victims of forced marriage, domestic violence and honour killings) who gave guests an exclusive insight into their remarkable lives in an interesting panel discussion.
English National Ballet opened the evening with a special performance of White Swan Pas de Deux (from Act II, Swan Lake).
