Why is City Giving Day good for business and why have you been involved?

“We are proud to have supported City Giving Day since it launched in 2015. We push ourselves each year to make City Giving Day bigger and better and 2018 was no exception! PwC teams took part in all three Lord Mayors Appeal events – the static bike challenge “Tour de City”, the Treasure Hunt and Quiz Night. We also used City Giving Day to increase engagement amongst staff in our own charity partnerships, focussing on social mobility and mental health & wellbeing. We invited our four charity partners into our London offices to talk to staff about their impact and we hosted an employability workshop for UK Youth. Flexibility is a key reason we support City Giving Day each year, you aren’t restricted to supporting the Lord Mayors Appeal, you can support your own charitable cause instead or as well. It’s all about engaging with our communities, which ties in perfectly to PwC’s purpose.”

David Adair, Head of Community Affairs at PwC

Why did you get involved and what was great about City Giving Day?

“As a member of the PwC Foundation Steering Committee, I was keen to get involved in City Giving Day to support our charity partners and the Lord Mayors Appeal. I lead a team for the Treasure Hunt which was great fun! As well as taking time to appreciate key landmarks in the City of London, it was great to meet people from other teams and the Lord Mayor too.”

Nikita Francis, Senior Associate in Capital Markets, Accounting and Structuring (CMAS) at Aon Re

Why do you think City Giving Day is important and what difference does it make to your charity/beneficiaries?

“City Giving Day gave us the opportunity to engage with PwC staff and explain the vital services we provide to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. PwC also organised an employability workshop for our beneficiaries to give them hints and tips on applying for jobs which will support them in building bright futures.”

Catherine Townson, Head of Partnerships & Development at Youth UK
