City Stories: Metro Bank

Why are you supporting City Giving Day?

At Metro Bank local communities are at the heart of what we do. By supporting City Giving Day we want to raise money and awareness for our chosen charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust. City Giving Day is a brilliant opportunity for colleagues at the bank to give something back.

Which charities or communities do you support?

Metro Bank is currently partnered with Teenage Cancer Trust. The bank gives colleagues a Day to AMAZE – a day, when they would normally be working, to volunteer and give back to their local community. Metro Bank stores deliver a free financial education programme for schools and youth groups.

How will you celebrate City Giving Day?

Metro Bank will be hosting a team challenge night to raise funds. Each team will nominate team members to take on challenges – from Lego model building, to fastest reaction games. Colleagues will also be completing a sponsored cycle ride around the royal parks and on the cycle superhighways in the city. The route is around seven miles.

Which charity are you supporting, why are you supporting it?

Teenage Cancer Trust. Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert, age-appropriate treatment and support.

“At Metro Bank we’re proud to get involved with City Giving Day for Teenage Cancer Trust. The bank is raising money to fund a new team of highly specialist nurses supporting young people facing cancer in communities across the country.”

Jimmy Munoz, Local Director of Metro Bank, Moorgate
