On Wednesday 3 May, the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress hosted a wonderful day of racing and dining at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire in aid of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

Taking place in the Pavilion Restaurant, over 400 guests, dressed in smart summer attire and ladies with some fabulous hats, enjoyed a Pol Roger Champagne reception, three course lunch with wine, tea and coffee, afternoon tea and fundraising activities including a raffle and silent auction.

In addition, guests received a racecard and racing paper and watched the excitement of the races in the Grandstand nearby and by live TV coverage in the room. ‘Bookies’ operated during the afternoon for those who wished to place bets and try their luck! The main race of the day was a thrilling preview of the Gold Cup Race taking place at Royal Ascot next month.

During the afternoon the Lady Mayoress was presented with a stunning cake made by Bakers Livery Company to celebrate her birthday the following day.

With thanks to our sponsor William Hill plc and supporters Pol Roger and CH&Co.
