Our Abseil Challenge reaches new heights!
Now in its 9th year, the 2025 Lord Mayor’s Appeal Abseil Challenge returned on Friday 4 July with over 80 participants of all ages.
Tasked with the dizzying height of The Leadenhall Building, aka the Cheesegrater, our brave abseilers took to the ropes from the 47th floor to raise over £50,000 for The Lord Mayor's Appeal and our partner charities Homewards and MQ Mental Health Research.
Highlights from the day included octagenarian Alan Wells QFSM, who completed the challenge for the 5th time, The Lord and Lady Mayoress and a beaming team from commercial manufacturer AIS.
A huge thanks to all the individuals and teams that took part, our abseil experts who helped everyone descend the 215m safely and to The Leadenhall Building for hosting us once again.
Ray Pentland CB, Chaplain to The Lord Mayor of the City of London said:
"What a great day it was - thank you to the team who kept us safe and the Lord Mayor’s Appeal team for working hard to make it happen!"
