6th–10th October 2025: Celebrating International Week of Happiness at Work
We celebrate International Week of Happiness at Work from 6th – 10th October 2025. It’s a perfect opportunity to focus on maintaining good mental health and creating workplaces where happiness can truly thrive.
At This Is Me, we believe in the power of stories – sharing challenges faced and recoveries made. As Benjamin Franklin wisely said: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
Happiness at work isn’t just a feel-good concept – it’s vital for wellbeing, engagement, and productivity. When employees feel valued, supported, and safe, their creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills flourish.
The Power of Psychological Safety
Feeling safe at work isn’t just nice, it’s necessary. When our emotional brain feels secure, our thinking brain can perform at its best. Psychological safety encourages open dialogue, innovation, and stronger team connections.
We also recognise that happiness isn’t always possible for everyone. International Week of Happiness at Work is one of many tools to support wellbeing – it’s not a cure-all. Let’s celebrate joy while acknowledging the challenges our colleagues may face.
Ideas to Celebrate Happiness at Work
Here are just a few ways you and your team can get involved during this special week:
- Leader-led discussions: Host a meeting where a leader shares why Happiness at Work is important to them, followed by a team discussion on creating more happiness together.
- Connection breakfast: Organize a no-work-talk breakfast to share weekend highlights or positive experiences.
- Happiness manifesto: Promote the Happiness at Work Manifesto or create your own. Explore the 10 Keys to Happier Living for inspiration.
- Happiness moments wall: Set up a virtual or physical wall for colleagues to post happy moments at work—sticky notes, photos, or messages. Pair this with “catch them being good” by giving colleagues positive feedback.
- Corridor culture: Encourage small gestures like smiles, greetings, or eye contact—simple acts that spark small moments of joy.
- Podcast sharing: Share a happiness podcast, such as Deepak Chopra’s interview with Action for Happiness: Cultivating Happiness with Deepak Chopra.
- Happiness selfies: Capture your joy! Take a “Happiness Selfie” with words that make you smile, share it with colleagues, and post on social media using #reasonstobehappy.
