A Festive Start: Mayoral year launches with unique Christmas carol performance

The Lord Mayor’s Appeal marked the start of the new mayoral year with a festive fundraising event on December 17th. Guests were welcomed at Lloyd’s with teas, coffees and mince pies before experiencing the timeless story of A Christmas Carol, narrated and brought to life by Mark Dickens, the great-great-grandson of Charles Dickens, alongside his son Oliver Dickens.

Performing in the Old Library of Lloyd’s, Mark and Oliver delivered an authentically Dickensian retelling of the classic tale, captivating everyone in attendance. Following the performance, guests made their way to The Royal Exchange, gathering beside the magnificent Christmas tree on the historic main steps. Here, they enjoyed more mince pies, mulled wine and traditional carol singing led by Music in Offices, adding an additional touch of seasonal cheer.

The Rt Hon The Lady Mayor of the City of London, Alderwoman Dame Susan Langley DBE, extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who purchased tickets and joined the event and to Mark & Oliver Dickens, Lloyd’s, The Royal Exchange, Fortnum & Mason, Boodles and Music in Offices for their generous support.
