23 Cheers for the 23 Mile Running Club

The amazing 23 Mile Running Club are once again competing in the London Marathon on Sunday 26 April to raise money for The Lord Mayor's Appeal.

Aiming to raise over £7,000 to help The Appeal in its aim to unlock potential in 15,000 Londoners, the 23-strong team of City employees, residents, families and friends and those who live and work in our neighbouring communities, have already hit over half of their fundraising total.

The 23 Mile Running Club started in 1981, to prepare a team of City of London Corporation marathon runners for the first London Marathon. Since then, they haven't missed a race. This year, the team are training hard - particularly Ellie Gooch who leads the fundraising charge, regularly attends the Wednesday club run and is getting married the week after her marathon run.

We'd like to wish all of the 23 Mile Club runners the best of luck and to say a heartfelt thank you to all supporters who have helped raised 61% of the fundraising target already. For those keen to support the team on the day, join us at the 23-Mile Cheer Squad station!
