The Lord Mayor’s Appeal welcomes the Sompo Foundation as a new strategic partner

We’re delighted to announce the Sompo Foundation as a new strategic partner of The Lord Mayor’s Appeal. This partnership marks an exciting new chapter in our work to help young people across the UK access the skills, confidence, experience and opportunities they need to secure meaningful employment and build brighter futures.

The Sompo Foundation, the philanthropic arm of global property, casualty and specialty insurance and reinsurance provider Sompo, was established in 2023 to support communities through strategic investment in social causes and targeted charitable initiatives. Its commitment to creating meaningful and lasting impact in the communities where Sompo operates makes it a natural partner for The Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

Around one million young people in the UK are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET). Behind this statistic are young people with enormous potential who can face significant barriers when trying to enter the workplace.

At The Lord Mayor’s Appeal, we believe that access to the right support, networks and opportunities can make a transformative difference. Through our work, we bring together the City of London’s business community to develop employability skills, reduce barriers to work, provide access to work experience and create pathways into employment. Our new partnership with The Sompo Foundation will help us build on this work and reach more young people who can benefit from these opportunities.
