Bobby Axelrod’s XI take the top spot in tightly fought match
The rain stayed away from the Honourable Artillery Company at the weekend as these historic grounds in the City of London, hosted our fundraising Twenty20 Cricket match.
With over 350 people in attendance at the event, they watched on as the Lord Mayor’s team the Lord Mayor’s XI, took on Damian Lewis’s team, the Bobby Axelrod’s XI, in some family friendly rivalry.
With both teams aiming for glory it was a close fought competition with Damian Lewis’s team the Bobby Axelrod's XI just pipping The Lord Mayor’s team to victory. The final score on the day was the Bobby Axelrod's XI finishing with 122 for 5 wickets vs 119 for Lord Mayor’s XI.
The perfect day out for families and sporting fans we were thrilled to have cricket great Michael Holding joining us to watch the match. Those attending the day were also treated to a BBQ lunch and welcome drinks very generously sponsored by APeducation online.
Funds from the ticket sales and the auction on the day have raised money for The Lord Mayor’s Appeals four chosen charities Place2Be, OnSide, Samaritans and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. These inspirational charities all deliver ground breaking programmes which not only change people’s lives, but also save them.
