5 Reasons to Support City Giving Day 2026

On 23 September, organisations from across the City will come together once again for City Giving Day – The Lord Mayor's Appeal's annual celebration of philanthropy, volunteering and community action.

Since its launch in 2015, City Giving Day has grown into one of the UK's largest corporate giving movements, bringing together businesses of every size to demonstrate the incredible difference we can make when we work together.

Whether you're a long-standing supporter or considering taking part for the first time, here are five reasons why City Giving Day 2026 should be in your calendar.

1. Show that business can be a force for good

City Giving Day gives organisations the opportunity to showcase the positive impact they make through fundraising, volunteering, mentoring and community partnerships. It's a chance to celebrate colleagues, inspire clients and partners, and demonstrate that purpose sits alongside performance. As Lady Mayor Dame Susan Langley said at the launch of City Giving Day 2026, "When the City unites behind a common purpose, our collective impact can be extraordinary."

2. Bring your people together

The best workplace initiatives create meaningful connections, and City Giving Day is full of opportunities for colleagues to come together while supporting good causes.

This year's programme includes the return of The Long Long Lunch, where organisations across the Square Mile host lunches simultaneously, transforming a simple meal into a shared act of generosity. Voices for Giving will once again bring City choirs together in celebration, while our brand-new volunteering programme offers do-gooders the opportunity to help deliver City Giving Day itself.

3. Take on a challenge

City Giving Day is known for its creative fundraising events, and 2026 promises some of the most exciting yet.

New this year is the CPR World Record Relay Challenge, delivered in partnership with Central London Alliance, which aims to train thousands of people in lifesaving CPR over 48 hours. Organisations can also compete in our ever-popular Tour de City, testing their endurance on static Wattbikes while raising money for charity and this year featuring a live DJ for spin class disco atmosphere.

4. Be part of something bigger

More than 600 organisations took part in City Giving Day 2025, helping to raise over £1.28 million for The Lord Mayor's Appeal to date. In 2026, the movement is expanding beyond London, inviting even more businesses across the UK to take part.

By joining City Giving Day, you'll be standing alongside hundreds of organisations that believe business has an important role to play in creating stronger communities and a better future.

5. Help build a Better City for All

Every challenge, lunch, bake sale, treasure hunt and fundraising event contributes to something much bigger. The Lord Mayor's Appeal works to create a Better City for All, bringing together businesses, charities and communities to create opportunities for people to thrive.

Join us on 23 September and help make City Giving Day 2026 our biggest celebration of corporate giving yet.
