Our top City Giving Day fundraising tips
Taking place on 24 September, City Giving Day is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the support City businesses provide to charities and good causes.
It is one day in the year when corporates can unite to celebrate and showcase their charitable and volunteering achievements with employees, clients, suppliers and the public.
From donating your daily coffee money to hosting a baby photo competition with colleagues, we’ve come up with some great fundraising ideas that will really engage the office for this year’s City Giving Day.
GO RED
An old City Giving Day favourite for a reason! Make a series visual impact by encouraging your colleagues to wear something red for donations. You could even give a prize to the best dressed in red!
BOOK SALE
Good for fundraising and an excellent use of old books left gathering dust on shelves at home. Ask everyone in the office to donate their unwanted books and hold a community book sale with all funds raised donated to charity.
BABY PHOTO COMPETITION
Great for connecting with colleague and a fun way to raise funds. Get the team to bring in a photo of themselves as a baby, then charge participants to guess who’s who.
AUCTION OF PROMISES
Discover what hidden skills your office friends have up their sleeves by hosting an auction of promises. Simply ask each colleague to offer up a skill – from hosting a sports session to a crafting circle to mowing the lawn – then bid on the service you want.
DONATE YOUR COFFEE MONEY
Sometimes the best fundraising ideas are the most simple… ask colleagues to donate the cost of their morning coffee. Maybe even get them to chuck in the cost of their daily croissant!
HOST A KARAOKE CHALLENGE
Proving that philanthropy doesn’t have to take itself too seriously, why not host an in-office karaoke challenge? Impress your colleagues with your singing ability or enthusiasm on the mike. Invite the team to try out their favourite tunes - from rock songs to ballads. Encouraging everyone to pay per song.
HOST A TALENT SHOW
Why stop at singing? Perhaps your colleagues have hidden talents beyond holding a tune which need to be shared with the world. Host an office talent show and discover a new side of your colleagues. Charge for each ticket and gather round the printer to be entertained.
SPONSORED SILENCE
The perfect excuse to create some office zen, why not offer to sponsor your chattiest colleagues to keep quiet for an hour, a morning or all day!
