Exploring the impact of the Livery Companies across the City
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal team have been busy attending events hosted by Liveries, offering a valuable reminder of the breadth of creativity and community impact taking place throughout the livery movement.
From historic traditions and craftsmanship to inclusion and education, these events show the important role Liveries continue to play in supporting people in the City and beyond.
At Pewter Live 2026 at Pewterers’ Hall, visitors explored a remarkable exhibition of ancient and contemporary pewter craftsmanship, ranging from 2,000-year-old pieces to intricate jewellery and modern handmade pieces.
The team also attended Foundation in Focus at Salters’ Hall, celebrating the work supported through the Salters’ Charitable Foundation alongside charities including West Ham United Foundation and The Combined Cadet Force Association. The event reflected the strength of collaboration across the charitable sector and the importance of long-term partnerships in creating meaningful community impact.
Conversations around inclusion and leadership were central to The Implementation Imperative Conference at Guildhall, hosted by The Livery Committee.
Opening the conference, Alderman Tim Hailes spoke powerfully about the need to make the City more representative of the world it serves, encouraging leaders and organisations to move beyond intention and take meaningful action to build inclusive cultures. Discussions throughout the day focused on leadership, belonging and the practical steps organisations can take to create lasting change.
Alongside these events, InfluencersLDN 2026 at Stationers’ Hall offered useful insight into communication and engagement in today’s digital landscape. A key theme throughout the event was the importance of authentic, human-centred storytelling — a message particularly relevant for charities and organisations seeking to build trust and connection online.
The month also included attendance at two important Goldsmiths’ Company occasions: The Verdict of the Pyx at Mansion House, one of the City’s oldest annual ceremonies celebrating quality and craftsmanship, and the Installation of the Prime Warden at Goldsmiths’ Hall, where Sir Edward Braham, Chair of Trustees of The Lord Mayor’s Appeal, was installed as Prime Warden.
Together, these events demonstrated the extraordinary variety of work taking place across the livery community. Whether supporting charitable causes, preserving heritage and craftsmanship, championing inclusion or creating opportunities for connection and collaboration, the Livery Companies continue to play a vital role in the life of the City and beyond.
Thanks to all the Livery Companies who asked The Lord Mayor's Appeal team to join them!
