City Stories: The Don Restaurant

Why are you supporting City Giving Day?

The City of London is a very close community. For the last 3 years we have been celebrating this closeness by bringing together four of the best restaurants in the City alongside some of our suppliers and neighbours, including Kajima, to offer a splendid champagne reception and three course meal for over 100 diners.

Which charities or communities do you support?

The proceeds from The Long Long Lunch will once again be going to The Lord Mayor's Appeal. We will also be supporting Hospitality and Catering Academy Merton College by asking their catering students to practice their waiting skills by serving our guests.

How will you celebrate City Giving Day?

Starting with canapes from Hispania Restaurant and Taittinger champagne in St Stephen Walbrook Church, followed by an open air lunch for 100 people along St Swithin’s Lane with food provided by The Don, 1 Lombard Street and Coq d'Argent. Diners will also enjoy wines from Trinity HIll, Nespresso coffee and macaroons from Laduree.

Which charity are you supporting, why are you supporting it?

The Lord Mayor's Appeal and City Giving Day provides us with a perfect opportunity to come together with our neighbours to celebrate all that is good about the community that is the City of London.

“The Long Long Lunch is a bit of a logistical nightmare, but it's worth doing, it brings everyone together, everyone has fun - it's fantastic!”

Georges Dugarin, Operations Director, The Don Restaurant
