City Stories: Columbia Threadneedle Investments

Why are you supporting City Giving Day?

This year we will showcase the work of a partner of Columbia Threadneedle Foundation; Clean Break. Clean Break is a charity and theatre company that supports women with experience of the criminal justice system, helping to raise awareness of their stories to city audiences, inspiring our city community to be part of positive change.

Which charities or communities do you support?

Columbia Threadneedle Foundation aims to deliver measurable improvement to individual lives and the broader community. We partner with charities that share our goals and values and are capable of delivering a return on our investment in terms of long-term, sustainable social change.

How will you celebrate City Giving Day?

We will host a day of Clean Break’s performance, “Sweatbox”, outside Mansion House. Sweatbox invites audiences to enter a prison van where three women share their stories whilst they are transported from court to prison, prison to prison, prison to court. What unfolds is a revealing and emotional 15 minute journey through anticipation to arrival.

Which charity are you supporting, why are you supporting it?

This year we are highlighting our support for Clean Break and its ground-breaking theatre which effects profound and positive change in the lives of

women.

“We are proud to partner with Clean Break in bringing Sweatbox to the city. Women’s offending is frequently underpinned by a range of complex, gender-specific needs. We hope to bring these important stories to new audiences across the city.”
