Sheriffs’ Ball is a blooming marvellous success
Friday 23 September saw Guildhall come into bloom as The Lord Mayor’s Appeal held its first ‘ball’ of the autumn season hosted by Sheriffs of the City of London, Alderman Alison Gowman and Alderman Nicholas Lyons.
This hugely popular City event, now in its sixth year, saw 410 guests in attendance including Aldermen, Common Councillors and Liverymen, all to raise funds for The Lord Mayor’s Appeal and dance the night away! On arrival guests were welcomed by two flower themed stiltwalkers and then moved into the Old Library to enjoy a sparkling wine drinks reception which was followed by a three-course dinner in the Great Hall with live music performed by the phenomenal Earth Lights. A highlight of the evening was a special rendition of ‘An English Country Garden’ performed by the Sheriffs and consorts with tailored lyrics for the event and audience which went down a storm! Fundraising activities included a silent auction with 54 prize lots, limited edition Lord Mayor’s whiskey and a True or False fundraiser. The night was a huge success and very much enjoyed by all. The Sheriffs and The Lord Mayor's Appeal would like to thank everyone who has supported the event including table and ticket buyers, our flower sponsors and Elder Floral Design, prize donors and the Organising Committee.
Next year’s Sheriffs’ Ball will take place on Friday 22 September 2023. To register your interest please email events@thelordmayorsappeal.org or call 020 7332 1582.
