On 13 June 2018, a 30-strong team abseiled more than 150 metres down the North Façade of Twentytwo, the Square Mile’s newest office skyscraper and currently under construction. Twentytwo is set to become the tallest building in the Square Mile at 62 storeys and 296 metres when complete in 2019.
The event saw the Lord Mayor Alderman Charles Bowman and other City Business Leaders take on this incredible daredevil challenge from a launch zone at Level 35.
Afterwards, abseilers enjoyed a cocktail party in the building celebrating their amazing achievement at this extraordinary new City landmark.

The Lord Mayor said:
“I am delighted so many people joined me for this abseil challenge at Twentytwo to raise money for three excellent causes. Credit to the brave people who conquered their fears. No doubt it was as daunting for you as it was for me, hanging over the edge at the top! But we made it, and most importantly, the generous amount of money donated will make a real difference to helping Londoners in need.”
The Lord Mayor’s Appeal would like to express their sincere thanks to everyone who took part or made donations, Twentytwo and Multiplex for hosting the event, Sir Stuart Lipton and Lipton Rogers Developments, AXA and Purple PR for all their fantastic support.
