Church bells rang out in the City of London on September 29th as Alderman Charles Bowman was elected to become the 690th Lord Mayor of the City of London, a position he took over on 10th November.
The election and ceremony at Common Hall in Guildhall took place in front of a packed crowd of Liveryman, Aldermen, Judges, Sheriffs and the incumbent Lord Mayor, Alderman Dr Andrew Parmley. This was an ancient ceremony full of pomp and circumstance.
