LMA Team Visits Charity Partners

Over recent months, our team have been visiting our 3 amazing charity partners, Place2Be, OnSide Youth Zones and Samaritans to see first-hand the impact that our funds are having and to find out more detail about what each charity does day to day.

Firstly, there was a group visit to Samaritans Central London branch in February where the team had a tour of the facilities. The branch is open 24/7 for anyone to walk in, grab a cuppa and have a chat. The team were shown the phone lines and the different rooms where staff can meet with guests in a safe environment to discuss any issues they are facing. It was inspiring to hear the extent of the provision and support that Samaritans offers as well as the impact that the Wellbeing in the Workplace (formerly Wellbeing in the City) e-learning tool has had.

Secondly, our Appeal Coordinator, Ryan McGee, visited Place2Be at their Being is Believing morning which was held at Portway Primary School. Place2Be have been partners with Portway for 5 years now and they are truly embedded in the school and their culture. The counselling services offered are integral to pupils’ wellbeing and it was moving to hear from the pupils themselves about how Place2Be has helped them process emotions and talk about their mental health.

Finally, some of the team accompanied the Lady Mayoress Lindy Estlin, Samantha Bowman, Hilary Russell and Amanda Keaveny (Consort to Sheriff and Alderman Vincent Keaveny) to see the new OnSide Youth Zone in Barking and Dagenham. Recently opened by the Duke of Sussex the event was a thank you to funders and stakeholders with the Appeal being a Capital Funder and a Founder Patron of the Zone. It was great to hear from the staff about the impact that the zone will have on the young people of the area as well as from some young people themselves about how their involvement with OnSide has transformed their lives.

Thanks so much to the teams at our partners for organising and hosting these visits - the team had a fantastic time and we are delighted to be continuing our partnership into 2020.
