18 December My DofE volunteering: Campaigning for the youth in Hackney
City Stories: Fidelity International
Why are you supporting City Giving Day?
City Giving Day is fast becoming one of our most popular events amongst employees at Fidelity since its launch in 2015. It’s the perfect opportunity to get together with other firms to unite in support of building better futures for those that need it most. It’s this kind of collaborative behaviour that we very much value here at Fidelity so it’s no surprise it has grown in popularity.
Which charities or communities do you support?
Investing in the community is something that Fidelity actively encourages by offering a generous Grant Matching programme as well as affording all employees the opportunity to take time out for volunteering days. We want employees to feel connected and part of a community that is committed to supporting others, so we are very excited to be taking part in City Giving Day again in 2019.
How will you celebrate City Giving Day?
This year, we plan to celebrate the day by again taking part in the Tour de City static bike ride (we do like a bit of competition) and will host a variety of other fundraising activities in the lead up.
Which charity are you supporting, why are you supporting it?
The funds raised will go towards our partner charities: Contact (for families with disabled children) and Fareshare (fighting hunger and taking food waste in the UK).
"Being part of the static bike ride team was great fun, (and exhausting!). Seeing everyone come together to support City Giving Day was really inspiring and a great celebration of everyone’s amazing charitable efforts. I also met loads of new people in the process, so I’ll definitely be doing my part again this year and would really encourage others to do the same."
