She Can Be... 2021 - our plans so far

On Wednesday 30 September 2020, participating organisations reconvened to discuss ways of making She Can Be… 2021 responsive to COVID-19, planning for both a virtual and face-to-face delivery of the morning session.

39 people attended from 25 different organisations, collaborating on how in 2021 they can show young women that the City is more focused than ever before on responding to the skills crisis and empower them to make informed decisions about their future careers.

This has never been more important, as young people are catching up on months of lost schooling, so we are keen to show how the City is adapting to these challenging circumstances, and how we will continue to support them into the workforce.

As a result, we explored what an offline event would look like, a purely virtual programme, as well as a hybrid version. We heard from organisations about what has worked for them in the past, and how this could translate to a digital agenda. Young women would still have the opportunity to meet senior leaders, discuss opportunities and learn from real models, and engage in activities that enhance their skills and increase their knowledge.

We will be making a decision as to the format and structure of the day in January, but are confident that whatever She Can Be… 2021 looks like, it will be an opportunity that will open horizons, inspire ideas, and make young women excited about a career in the City.
