On Friday 15 September the Sheriffs of the City of London Alderman William Russell and Alderman Peter Estlin hosted the second annual Sheriffs' Ball at Guildhall. Attended by the Lady Mayoress as well as 420 guests from livery and city companies, the evening was organised by the Sheriffs and their event commitee to raise funds for The Lord Mayor's Appeal.

On arrival guests were greeted by the Company of the Pikemen & Musketeers in Guildhall Yard before being led into the Old Library for champagne and canapes. The dinner was held in the Great Hall with speeches from both Sheriffs and dancing to the Supertones band between courses. Joe Stilgoe provided a fantastic jazz and cabaret act over dessert. There was also a silent auction with 69 magnificent prizes on offer with guests bid for enthusiastically on their electronic tablets. The evening ended with more dancing to the Supertones until midnight.

The Lord Mayor's Appeal would like to express their sincere thanks to the Sheriffs Alderman William Russell and Alderman Peter Estlin and the committee for making the event a great success, all those who supported the event by donating prizes or in other ways, our event element sponsors and of course everyone who attended.

Next year's Sheriffs' Ball will take place on Friday 21 September 2018. To register your interest please email events@thelordmayorsappeal.org.uk
