Church bells rang out in the City of London on October 1st as Alderman Peter Estlin was elected to become the 691st Lord Mayor of the City of London, a position he took over on 9th November. 

The election and ceremony at Common Hall in Guildhall took place in front of a packed crowd of Liveryman, Aldermen, Judges, Sheriffs and the incumbent Lord Mayor, Alderman Charles Bowamn. This was an ancient ceremony full of pomp and circumstance.
