Saturday 28 September saw the second annual Dragon Boat Race take place at Fairlop Waters in Essex in aid of The Lord Mayor's Appeal. Fourteen teams took part in the thrilling race which was held in three sets throughout the day and concluded in the grand finals late afternoon. Amongst participants were late Lord Mayor Alderman Sir Charles Bowman and his wife Samantha Bowman and the under 18's GB dragonboat squad were also present and took to the water to set a competitive pace! Spirits were kept high throughout the day and participants fully embraced the dress competition with impressive outfits and face painting. On dry land a number of exciting stalls offered delicious food, drinks and arts and crafts.
